• Cast aluminum grille with simi-horizontal bars
• Kingpin grease fitting in front
• 4-bladed pusher fan
• No freeze plugs on side of engine block
• First 700 tractors has cast aluminum hoods
• Hood cover panel snaps in (no hinges)
• Tool box with spanner, open end wrench, pliers, & screw driver
• Key & starter button on dash
• "Ignition On" light on dash
• 4-spoke steering wheel
• Left & right brake pedals are interchangeable
• 2-ribbed fenders
• Smooth rear axle hubs
9N (1940)
• 3-brush generator replaces 2-brush unit
• Freeze plugs in side of engine block
• Hinged battery cover introduced mid-year
• More rounded exhaust manifold
• Ignition key is moved from right side of dash to left
• Neutral interlock starter button introduced mid-year
• Single-ribbed fenders


9N (1941)
• Steel grille with vertical spokes & solid center bar
• Kingpin grease fitting move to rear
• Lube line is provided from filter housing to governor
• Ignition key is moved to steering column
• 3-spoke wheel (spokes covered)
• Left & right brake pedals now different
• Riveted rear hubs replace smooth ones
• Heavier-duty lift cylinder & spring
• Chrome trim on several parts

9N (1942)
• Transition from 9N to 2N models - 2N appeared as 9N as parts were used up on assembly line

2N (1942)
• "2N" appears in lower edge of Ford-script badge
• Grille has slotted center bar
• External fasteners appear on lower side panels - mid-year
• Non-electrical (magneto) system & steel wheels
• Valve rotators used in engine
• Steering wheel has exposed metal rod spokes
• Vertical fender bold holes cast into rear axle housing, no longer "solid"
• 10.00x28 rear tires now standard
• Chrome trim eliminated

2N (1943)
• Pressurized radiator in introduced mid-year
• 8.00x32 tires no longer offered
2N (1944)
• Sealed beam headlights offered (first in the tractor industry)
• Oval radius rods replace I-beam rods mid-year
• Helical transmission input gears introduced mid-year
2N (1945)
• Heavier rear axle housing introduced mid-year

• Casting numbers added on flywheel & rear axle housings
